1,291 women were sensitized to Early detection of breast cancer.
Limón, October 2019. During the month of the fight against breast cancer; Grupo Acón in alliance with the Tour Rosa Association carried out the awareness campaign for the early detection of breast cancer, for the fourth consecutive year.
“The campaign has the objective of informing the population about common warning signs, such as carrying out self-exams and other periodic examinations to detect them in time; like mammography and ultrasound ”commented Marilú Fernández Delgado, coordinator of Social Responsibility of Grupo Acón.
Costa Rica is among the countries with the best percentage of breast cancer survival in the region (87%), this is due to the detection of cases in earlier stages of the disease. Part of these results are the product of educating the population about the importance of periodically carrying out control, diagnostic, and timely and effective treatments.
The talks are held in each workplace and it has been possible to sensitize more than 1,291 working women of the Acón Group.
“It is a very good initiative and a way for the company to show us that it takes care of us, that the Acón Group is interested in us. And although they have been receiving talks like this for several years, it is important to continue because we have new colleagues who perhaps ignore the subject and do not delve into the importance of doing a self-examination, "said Rebeca Ramírez Valverde, office clerk in the Agricultural Audit department of Grupo Acón.
In the month of July, Grupo Acón managed 25 mammography appointments in coordination with the local CCSS and the Tour Rosa Association donated 80 mammograms for working women, women from the community and family members.
